Fleets with the need for a rugged, uncompromising light commercial vehicle (LCV) could be in luck, as Citroen has put its new Berlingo to the ultimate test.

The model was taken on an off-road excursion by Citroen Total WRT World Rally Championship drivers Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm.

A rally stage like no other

The pair tested every aspect of the model’s handling and reliability in a frenetic race at Langley Park Rally School in Essex earlier this month.

It took on rough terrain and was subjected to significant abuse, with Lappi and Ferm giving it everything they’ve got. The model emerged unscathed.

Matt Weston, Citroen UK LCV product manager, commented: “WRC has always served as the perfect test bed for many of the technologies we see in our passenger cars today.

“This was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our best-selling new Berlingo van in a fun and safe way, and really test it to its limits.”

The Berlingo has sold more than 3.3 million units since its launch in 1996 and this latest version is everything businesses need to ensure their services are delivered on time.

Ellie Baker, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, comments: “It’s great to see Citroen really putting the Berlingo through its paces. Rally is hard on every vehicle, so to see the Berlingo stand up to such punishment is fantastic news for the brand.”
