Whitstable move means more jobs for area

kent-office3Continuing growth for Fuel Card Services has meant moving from Canterbury to larger premises in Whitstable, accompanied by a recruitment drive. Rob Webb, general manager, said, “Our existing 36 employees all moved with us, but we need at least 30 more account managers to meet growing demand for our services.”

Fuel Card Services has moved into purpose-built modern offices at Estuary View Business Park, because success meant outgrowing its former home. “We had a dozen people in Kent when we became part of the international DCC plc five years ago,” said Rob Webb. “This is the second time that we have needed bigger premises since then. We are enjoying similar growth in our other offices in Burnley, Leeds, Motherwell and Oxford and now have over 300 staff altogether.”

The company is recruiting account management staff, responsible for bringing in new customers and then looking after their business needs. No previous experience is necessary, with full NVQ training provided in sales and account management. Applicants will need to be excellent communicators with a confident telephone manner, self-motivated, energetic and positive. They can expect a competitive salary with uncapped performance bonus, life assurance, pension, discounts on private healthcare and more.

“We want everyone to look forward to coming to work,” said Rob Webb. “So, we provide the unexpected little things that make a difference, including rest area televisions, fresh fruit baskets and massage chairs. After a qualifying period, you even get an extra day off on your birthday. It says a lot about the company that every member of our current Canterbury team has stayed with us and come to Whitstable.”

Fuel Card Services provides cards that allow commercial road users to refuel at a fixed weekly price, available at thousands of locations throughout the country. This usually means a discount of 3p to 4p per litre on pump prices, with even bigger savings on the motorways. Its cards can be used at BP, Esso, Shell and Texaco filling stations and on the Diesel Direct and UK Fuels networks, as well as supermarkets, independents and motorway services.
