A new white paper has explored the evolving world of vehicle ‘usership’ and its potential for fleet managers in a challenging landscape.
Titled ‘Charting a Safe Path Through the Minefield of Challenges Facing UK Businesses’, the paper reveals a mood of caution and mild pessimism amongst UK businesses, according to Europcar UK, which published it.
Europcar UK – which is a key partner for many UK businesses – conducted the research in response to the increasing challenges facing businesses and decision makers when it comes to keeping workers on the road and productive.
The paper looks into the business landscape, with a focus on mobility and the rise of ‘usership’, which offers businesses the flexibility and control they need to free up capital.
More than half of the businesses surveyed by Europcar said they generate their revenue through monthly contracts, so unsurprisingly, economic growth and cash flow were found to be the top two concerns for this sample of firms.
However, other big worries included minimising risk and retaining talent. Consequently, efficiency and productivity remains the overall challenge.
Gary Smith, managing director of Europcar Mobility Group in the UK, says the paper shows how fleet managers can harness the flexibility and versatility provided by the latest mobility solutions to reduce costs and boost the efficiency of their fleet.
“Businesses need to be able to cope with fluctuations in demand by harnessing solutions that offer them the agility and flexibility they need to adjust their operations quickly,” he commented.
“It’s more important than ever, therefore, for firms to understand the benefits the new mobility landscape can offer them.”

Ellie Baker, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, comments: “This white paper lays out the range of mobility solutions companies can turn to in a bid to maximise the efficiency of their fleet.”
