Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has picked up a trio of wins at the 2017 Business Van Awards, with its Transporter model well received by judges.
The Transporter was named Best Large Trades Van and overall Business Van of the Year, with its size, load capacity, build quality and fuel-efficient engines giving it the edge over other competitors.
VW's Transporter Kombi, which was noted for its new design and wide range of safety and engineering features, was named as Best Crew Van – a title it has now won for three consecutive years.
Among the safety measures available on the Transporter – which also comes in shuttle and Caravelle models, as well as with chassis cab or dropside variants – are a Driver Alert system and Automatic Post Collision Braking.
Head of fleet for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles described the wins as "a fantastic result which builds on what has been another fantastic year for the Transporter".
He added that Volkswagen are "really proud" of the van and what it has to offer, as well as its fleet aftersales support for customers.
Editorial director of Business Vans and and member of the judging panel Ralph Morton said the Transporter is "iconic" for those who work in the trades and small businesses. He noted the Kombi has the added benefit of being suitable for use as a van during the day, but also as a passenger vehicle in the evenings and at weekends.
Natalie Brinkley, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, adds: "VW's Transporter range has long been a favourite for tradesmen and businesses, and these awards demonstrate just how highly the model is thought of in the commercial vehicle industry."
