Van Excellence courses ‘promote professionalism’

Written by Ellie

The ongoing Van Excellence Driver Certificate of Competence accreditation from the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has been designed to promote the very best aspects of driver behaviour.

Aimed at encouraging companies to promote best practice among their professional driving staff, the certification incorporates two elements:

  1. A training phase with one-to-one tuition, as well as computer-based learning.
  2. An assessment phase, where operators are put through their paces to ensure they are compliant with industry best practice and work in line with all necessary legislation and in a professional manner.

FTA head of vans Mark Cartwright commented: "FTA operators have told us what is important to them and the training has been designed to meet these needs.

"It's all about demonstrating, through both the training and qualification process, a real commitment to operate in a safe, considerate and compliant manner. It’s about being professional."

Delivered in partnership with the FTA's ongoing Van Excellence scheme, the dual accreditation now available under the Van Excellence banner means businesses can demonstrate industry-leading credentials not only in the maintenance of their fleets, but in the actions and behaviour of their drivers as well.

The inaugural Van Excellence Certificate of Driver Competence course took place in Leamington Spa last week (August 13th), with many more now set to follow in the months and years to come.
