Suzuki is celebrating this month with March 2020 marking a whopping 100 years since the
company was first established.

Michio Suzuki set up his eponymous brand in 1920, but it wasn’t automobiles he was actually
focusing on back then. In fact, the company was designed to manufacture looms.

From factories to roads – and they’ve never looked back

Thankfully for car enthusiasts, things changed and evolved, with Suzuki going on to design
outboard motors, motorcycles and eventually automobiles.

Its name was changed to Suzuki Motor Co Ltd in 1954 upon the launch of mini vehicle the
Suzulight, followed by another slight alteration to become the Suzuki Motor Corporation we
know today as of 1990.

Current director and chairman of the brand Toshihiro Suzuki said he is thrilled to have reached
this milestone, something the company has done by concentrating firmly on customers’ needs. “Your kind support is truly the greatest factor that has enabled us to achieve our
commemorative 100th anniversary. We sincerely appreciate your continuous support” he
added.

To mark the occasion, Suzuki has created a centenary logo and launched a special web page
where people can check out 100 years of history.

Thanks to great designs like the Swift, the Jimny and the Vitara, Suzuki has become
synonymous with excellent build quality, reliability and economy.

However, it never compromised on style in order to achieve this, meaning you can enjoy a
great-looking vehicle as well as a dependable one.

Amy King, SEO and Social Manager at Drivers Club News, comments: “We’d like to say a big
happy birthday to Suzuki, which is undoubtedly one of the UK’s best-loved automotive brands.
We have a particular soft spot for the quirky little Jimny – which is your favourite Suzuki?”
