Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VW) has published its core results for September and has highlighted a significant surge in global deliveries in the year so far.
A total of 350,800 deliveries were completed by the manufacturer from January to September this year, representing an annual upturn in production volume of 9.1 per cent.
Western Europe was highlighted as an area of particular growth during the first nine months of 2016, with a 14.1 per cent rise in deliveries in comparison to the same time last year.
The marque’s strong performance in key European markets including Germany (up 13.7 per cent), Spain (up 38.6 per cent) and France (up 21.9 per cent) were a key driver of this growth.
Bram Schot, board member for sales and marketing at VW, commented: “Our strong performance in western Europe gives us powerful momentum, and we will continue this success with the new Amarok, which has been available for order at dealerships since this summer, and with the new Crafter, for which advance sales will soon begin.”
Across the globe, the VW Model T proved to be the brand’s strongest performer in the year so far, with 125,200 deliveries. Other key performers were the Caddy (104,500), Amarok (55,600) and Crafter (36,100) models.
While Europe and North America continued to show strong levels of improvement for the marque, this was somewhat countered by declines in both the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions.
