Revving up for spring: Get your car ready for warmer climes

Written by Molly

Spring is finally here, after months of cold and dark days, with snow, ice and winter chills already a distant memory for many of us.

Now, with the clocks having changed and an extra hour bestowed upon our evenings, the time is right to get your car ready for the spring and summer months ahead. With this in mind, IAM RoadSmart has offered some helpful tips to car owners on how to do just that.

Indeed, IAM head of driving and riding standards Richard Gladman stated: “Treat your car to a spring clean. The efforts to wash and polish it will last a bit longer now the winter salt has gone. Now is a good time to spend a therapeutic Sunday morning tinkering.”

IAM’s top tips include having a thorough de-clutter of your car, taking the opportunity to shed any excess pounds of winter gear that you won’t be needing for the foreseeable future.

In addition, you should make sure everything is sparkling clean – that includes washing away any lingering winter salt that could cause harm to your paintwork.

Other top tips include changing pollen filters in your vehicle to cut down on the risk of hay fever and to top up your air conditioning in preparation for the warmer months ahead.

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, commented: “Now is the perfect time to put the winter blues behind you and embrace the glory that is spring. It means lighter days and warmer weather, with plenty of opportunities to take to the roads in far nicer climes than we’ve recently seen.”
