Jaguar Land Rover continues to push the boundaries of car design, and the manufacturer has been recognised for its innovation at this year’s Autocar Magazine Awards.
The Range Rover Evoque secured the coveted title of Autocar’s Innovation Award 2019.
Providing clearer sight for drivers
The company was congratulated for its commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies, with its ClearSight Ground View system serving to create an ‘invisible bonnet’ for drivers of the Evoque.
Featuring three forward-facing cameras in the front grille and on the door mirrors, the system offers an unobstructed view of the front of the vehicle, helping motorists to negotiate difficult terrain more easily.
It also helps owners to avoid damage to the vehicle when faced with high city-centre kerbs and tight parking spots.
Mark Tisshaw, editor of Autocar Magazine, stated: “It’s a fantastic and truly original piece of technology that can make a real difference to both on and off-road driving.
“It’s another great piece of British innovation from Land Rover, which quietly but consistently adds world-first technology on a more regular basis than most of its peers.”
Other features of the new Evoque that owners will be pleased to enjoy include the manufacturer’s InControl Remote system – allowing drivers to connect with their Evoque by smartphone or smartwatch – as well as a 12.3-inch high-definition driver display and two ‘hidden until lit’ glass touchscreens.
Ellie Baker, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, comments: “This new technology will be a major boon to Evoque owners in keeping their vehicle safe from harm, and it’s an innovation that we’re surprised hasn’t been developed much sooner.”
