Raising awareness for World Aids Day 2019
2nd December 2019
Founded in 1988, World Aids Day is an opportunity for communities, businesses and people around the world to band together in the fight against HIV infection.
Rock the Ribbon Together in 2019
In the UK, more than 100,000 people are currently living with HIV, while this figure rises to more than 36 million globally.
Despite the fact the virus was only discovered in 1984, there have so far been more than 35 million recorded deaths attributed to HIV or Aids, making this one of the most destructive global pandemics in history.
Every year, World Aids Day is an opportunity to remind the public that this issue has not gone away, with this year’s theme being ‘Rock the Ribbon Together’ – it will highlight the isolation and loneliness that many of those diagnosed with HIV have to go through.
