Public to assess plans for new A27 Arundel Bypass

Plans to improve transport links for travellers, businesses and the local community in the Arundel area have moved forward this week.
Highways England has unveiled six options for the new A27 Arundel Bypass project, which will be put to public scrutiny in the coming weeks.
All responses are welcome
The proposed scheme will see the construction of a new dual carriageway between Worthing and the New Forest – providing a welcome boost to capacity given the current single-lane road that presently connects these areas.
Highways England A27 Arundel Bypass programme leader Jason Hones commented: “Arundel has a unique cultural heritage and is surrounded by precious special environments, which are rightly protected.
“We have assessed all the viable options in greater detail than before so that people can see and understand all the factors and help us decide which one strikes the right balance.”
A total of ten exhibits are being held across the local area in the coming weeks, where the six preferred options for the route will be highlighted.
Visitors and all those with an interest in the project are invited to have their say on the proposed works as part of a full public consultation, which now runs until October 24th.
Once decided, construction of the new bypass is expected to get underway from late 2022.
Jenny Smith, general manager for Tele-Gence, commented: “These are ambitious plans that will be of great benefit to everyone in the Arundel area, as well as to the wider community through better, more efficient transport infrastructure.”
