DVF Racing made a successful visit to Oulton Park for rounds seven and eight of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB with Slidesports Engineering. Driver Tio Ellinas scored two podium finishes to open up a six-point lead in the championship standings as the first half of the season came to a close.
Tio fell back from his third-place starting spot in race one but passed rival Dino Zamparelli to regain the position with six laps left to run and followed up with a similar result in race two to move to the lead of the championship.
In Pro-Am, David Fairbrother continued to impress on his Carrera Cup return, making up four spots from his starting position to finish fourth in race one, but unfortunately retired with damage in race two.
The team will now enjoy a six-week summer break before getting set for rounds nine and ten at Snetterton in Norfolk on July 27-29. Both races that weekend will take place on Sunday, with the latter live on ITV4 and ITV Hub online.
Tio Ellinas, driver #11
“We qualified third for race one. It wasn’t a bad race because we passed Dino. I feel sorry for him not finishing, but this happens, and everyone has their ups and downs in the championship, so we took the opportunity to outscore him. In race two we dropped off a bit at the start and I had to concentrate to do the best job possible. It was a good weekend with two thirds and scoring important points, especially with what happened to Dino. It’s the mid-point of the championship now and hopefully we can extend the lead further at Snetterton.”
David Fairbrother, driver #9
“It was a bit of an up-and-down weekend really. The pace is in the car as you can see Tio is doing well in Pro and I was able to put in some good lap times during the race, but we have to tie it all together. The performance was good in race one, the guys at Slidesports did a great job with the car, and we weren’t far away from getting back on the podium – I’m sure I’ll get there soon. It didn’t happen for us in race two but that’s the way it goes. We’ll be fit and ready to go at Snetterton.”
Mark Jenkins, Team Manager Slidesports Engineering
“We’re now at the halfway point of the season and I would take two third places over a risky win any day. We’re leading the championship, Tio’s performances are good, and I think there’s more to come. We’re looking forward to a bit of a rest to regroup. David at one part of the race was doing some very good times – quick enough to be second in Pro-Am – so I think he’s overdue a better finish. It’s all positive for us.”
