New Mazda6: price and spec confirmed, due summer
19th March 2018
Pricing and equipment lists for the all-new Mazda 6 saloon and tourer estate have been announced ahead of the D-segment cruiser’s summer arrival.
Now in its third generation, the Mazda6 has been given an upgraded cabin, revised styling and more advanced technology, as well as a new 2.5-litre petrol engine with cylinder activation to benefit fuel consumption.
The price list will start from £23,045, reaching up to £32,795 before extras, with equipment split across four trim levels: SE-L Nav+, SE-L LUX Nav+, Sport Nav+ and the newly added GT Sport Nav+ range-topper.
Mazda’s 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine, which makes its UK debut in the 6 linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox, can switch off two of its four cylinders to improve real-world fuel economy with no effect on performance.
Elsewhere in the 6’s engine range, there’s the newly enhanced two-litre Skyactiv-G petrol and popular 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D diesel, which has been uprated from 172bhp to produce 181bhp.
Standard equipment for the Mazda6 includes new LED exterior lights, rain-sensing front wipers, dusk-sensing light, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone air con, remote central locking, cruise control, DAB radio and eight-inch colour touchscreen. There’s also lots of safety boosting kit like blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist and hill hold.
Jeremy Thomson, managing director of Mazda Motors UK, believes all the changes with the new Mazda6 make it “a thoroughly re-engineered and refined update of our stylish flagship”.
Molly Benton, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, added: “The Mazda6 has been a fantastic fixture in the company car market for a while now and it should stay that way for the foreseeable future.”back
