Vauxhall/Opel has announced a positive start to the year, with a significant increase in sales across its light commercial vehicle (LCV) range in the first three months of 2019.
First-quarter figures published by the company show a 35 per cent annual upturn in sales compared to the same period last year.
Major growth supported by UK popularity
In total, the manufacturer reported sales in excess of 33,000 units during Q1, with the company’s market share in the LCV segment rising by 0.6 percentage points to 4.7 per cent.
The UK remains the largest single market for Vauxhall/Opel, with 8,000 sales in Q1 2019.
Xavier Duchemin, managing director for sales, after sales and marketing at Vauxhall/Opel, commented: “Our LCV business is growing on a broad front. All of our LCVs are more popular than last year and we have managed to increase our market share in almost every European market. This shows that our measures are effective.”
The company witnessed a substantial increase in demand for its Combo Cargo (up 68 per cent), Vivaro (up 33 per cent) and Movano (up 18 per cent) models in the first three months of the year.
“The pleasing volume of orders means that 2019 is promising to be a good year,” Mr Duchemin concluded.
Jenny Smith, general manager for Tele-Gence, commented: “The UK continues to be a major market for Vauxhall/Opel, with fleets up and down the country investing in the manufacturer’s LCV solutions.”
