AA welcomes HGV speed limit increase

Sustainability remains a major issue for UK haulage providers and the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) continues to help to promote best practice in terms of lower emissions for operators across the UK.

With this in mind, judging for the annual LCRS Awards has now taken place, with entrants vying for titles in a range of categories, all of which are dedicated to identifying those firms that are placing significant onus on protecting the environment and setting the standard for green operations in the UK.

LCRS is operated by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and is growing in standing in terms of its significance within the green agenda for UK logistics providers.

This year's titles include Fuel Efficient Operator of the Year, Leader in Logistics Carbon Reduction, Excellence in Modal Shift, Smaller Fleet Operator of the Year, Logistics Carbon Innovator of the Year and Green Fuel and Technology Operator of the Year.

FTA chief executive and LCRS head judge Theo de Pencier commented: "This is the third year of the Awards and every year the calibre of the entries and the spread of entries from different sectors of industry has just got better and better.

"Overall, I think that the Awards reinforce the importance of sustainability and if you can get that right, it is both efficiency and sustainability that improves."

All the winners of this year's LCRS Awards will be announced at the upcoming FTA Logistics Carbon Reduction Conference on May 13th at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
