If your company is new to the van sector, or you are simply looking for an opportunity to improve your knowledge, the Van Smart Driver Training course could help you to improve both theory and practical driving skills.

Van Smart is a driver training programme that aims to reduce work related road risks, improve safety and create long-term behavioural change in the van sector. The training includes a driver handbook as well as practical training and a competency framework underpins the whole programme and defines the competencies van drivers need to have, and the behaviours they should demonstrate. In the past four weeks, over 800 people have attended Van Smart workshops, and the sessions have been met with positive feedback.

Van Smart Training is DCPC accredited and fully aligned to meet the requirements of:

  • Work Related Road Risk (WRRR)
  • Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver level
  • Construction Logistics & Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) Standard

The Van Smart toolkit is part of a range of FORS toolkits aimed at helping fleet operators and transport managers to improve their operations.
