Citroen’s new C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer MPVs are now on sale in the UK, with prices starting from £21,125 and £23,425 respectively.
Don’t mistake them for all-new models, as these are in fact the C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso with new names and some tweaks here and there.
The name change was announced during the Geneva Motor Show back in March, but with so many extravagant cars hogging the limelight and headlines, it’s understandable why this news would’ve been drowned out.
One of the key changes for the MPVs’ soft relaunch is the introduction of a new diesel engine: a BlueHDi 160 S&S diesel, paired to a new EAT8 automatic gearbox. This new powertrain gifts the MPVs ‘even greater driving comfort’, Citroen says.
The eight-speed auto also reduces fuel consumption by up to seven per cent, compared to its six-speed counterpart, and makes for smoother gearshifts. Prices for this new diesel start from £27,550 and £29,250 respectively.
The MPVs’ diesel engine range is completed by the BlueHDi 100 S&S and BlueHDi S&S six-speed manual/EAT6 auto with 120 or 150PS. Petrol options consist of the PureTech S&S six-speed manual with 110 or 130PS and THP 165 S&S EAT6 automatic.
Both MPVs have gained new safety equipment with speed sign recognition and recommendation, active safety brake and driver attention alert now coming as standard, while equipment is split across three trim grades: Touch Edition, Feel and Flair.
Ellie Baker, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, comments: “The C4 Picasso is dead, long live the C4 SpaceTourer.”
