Team profile: Slidesports

Staffordshire-based Slidesports have over 20 years experience in motorsport, winning at National, European and International level.

That experience comes not just on four wheels, but also on two and six with the team having dipped their toe in the water of both motorcycle and truck racing down the years. The team itself is managed by ex-Formula One engineer Mark Jenkins, part of an 11-strong Porsche Carrera Cup GB team that consists of four mechanics, two engineers, two support crew members and drivers David Fairbrother and Ross Wylie.

The Pall-Ex and Fuel Card Services-backed squad have also been keen to showcase upcoming talent in motorsport, working with the inspiring Team BRIT – a squad made up entirely of injured service personnel aspiring to race in the historic Le Mans 24 hour race. Through an association with Staffordshire University the team also plays an active part in the education of future race mechanics and engineers, offering real world, practical experience to undergraduates as part of the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Technology.

The team enjoyed success with Volkswagen in the Volkswagen Racing Cup and VAG Trophy, winning silverware in both championships since 2013. Slidesports made their move into sportscar racing in 2015, taking David Fairbrother and James Greenway to title success in the GT Cup and participated in a number of 24-hour and 12-hour endurance races. In early 2017 the team submitted a two-car entry for David and Scottish racer Ross Wylie into the ultra competitive Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
