Not your typical fleet car manufacturer, but one for all those high-level execs out there, the news that McLaren Automotive has celebrated a fourth consecutive year of record annual sales is positive indeed.
The company achieved a stellar performance in 2016, with a total of 3,286 cars sold. This helped to drive a 70 per cent increase in profit before tax for the marque – itself resulting in a fourth straight year of record financial growth.
Overall, the company's £65.8 million profit for the year marked a 180 per cent increase from 2015. At the same time, total sales revenues for the brand reached £649.8 million, and were up by 44 per cent.
Responding to the positive data, McLaren Automotive chief executive officer Mike Flewitt stated: "Investment in R&D and future product during the period … reaffirms our commitment to the Track22 Business Plan that will produce 15 new models or derivatives by the end of 2022."
He concluded that the company's forward-looking focus will now be on "successfully delivering these new products and managing continued profitable growth".
The future too looks bright for McLaren, with this year so far witnessing the release of major models in the form of the 720S and 720S Spider, while launches are expected for a range of other new car designs in the months ahead.
Molly Benton, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, adds: "McLaren have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and fleet operators with a flair for the sporty (and the budget to back that up) can't go far wrong with this brand when wishing to impress their drivers."
