51-year-old David Fairbrother embarks on his rookie campaign in the British Touring Car Championship-supporting Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain championship this season.
The Halifax born racer holds a tally of 65 races to his name from a racing career spanning five years since 2012. Three of those seasons were spent racing in the competitive Volkswagen Racing Cup, a series in which David earned a best championship finish of 12th in 2014 behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Scirocco.
A switch to the GT Cup in 2015 brought success at the wheel of a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car for David and team-mate James Greenway. The pair claimed nine wins, five podiums, 11 pole positions and 12 fastest laps from the 22-race calendar. This was enough to secure the GTB group title and second in the overall title, just 26 points shy of the crown.
David had a quieter 2016 but again kept himself occupied in GT racing. Sixth place in the GTX class came during the Gulf 12 Hours at Abu Dhabi in a Porsche Cayman, which he also contested in three races in the Am Class of the Competition102 GT4 European Series.
Alongside his Porsche Carrera Cup GB duties with the Pallex and Fuel Card Services – backed Slidesports team in 2017, David also competed in the Dubai round of the 24H series, finishing 15th overall in a SP3-GT4 class Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
