Charity Mind Skydive

Thanks to all who supported Mark’s leap of faith for Mind

It makes us incredibly proud when members of the Fuel Card Services team give their time and effort to support great causes, and this was precisely the case for our very own Mark Flippence in recent weeks.

On Sunday (June 30th), Mark took a leap of faith by taking part in a charity skydive in support of Mind – The Mental Health Charity.

Helping raise funds and awareness

Before the jump, Mark explained: “I always wanted to do a skydive and if I can raise money for a fantastic charity at the same time, then why not?

“This is for a great cause and will help a lot of people with the money that is raised.”

In total, he helped to raise almost £1,000 for this fantastic cause and, after the jump, he described the experience as being “a really good day” with “perfect weather for it”.

Mind offers information and advice to thousands of people up and down the country in regards to their mental health.

Indeed, with approximately one in four of us suffering from a mental health condition at some point in our lifetime, this is a charitable cause that has the potential to support millions of people in their time of need.

Once Mark safely returned to the ground, he commented, “I enjoyed every moment of it and it was for such a great cause. Raised a lot of money in the process. Massive thank you to everyone for their donations and support on the day. If it wasn’t for those people, and the great charity I was doing it for, I would never even got on the plane.”

If you’d still like to make a donation in support of this great cause, Mark’s JustGiving page remains open and all donations are extremely welcome!

Fuelcard Services JobFair

A fantastic job fair result for Fuel Card Services

Encouraging more young people to pursue a career in fuel cards is always our aim, so to see another successful outing for our recruitment team this month is something we’re happy to cheer about.
We recently attended a job fair event at Burnley College and the pupils who took part were eager to find out more about working with us.

A great opportunity to gain experience

Riaz Bashir, our representative on the day, said: “It was slow going to start with, but as more and more came out of their exams and saw others talking to us at our stand, it began to snowball.”

Overall, around 30 pupils expressed an interest in attending our upcoming open days to secure summer positions with Fuel Card Services.

The positive reception we received from the pupils at Burnley College highlights the many fantastic opportunities that we have to offer for young people just starting out in the world of work.

It was the first time Fuel Card Services has attended a college job fair, but given the great reception we received, it won’t be the last!

Fuelcard Services 3 Peaks Challenge

3 Peaks Challenge team to support Pendleside Hospice

Members of the Fuel Card Services team will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

It’s a daring venture and one in support of a great cause – raising money for Pendleside Hospice.

All in support of an amazing charity

The team will aim to complete the 24-mile hike that takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.

It’s quite the challenge, but one we’re keen to tackle head-on. Indeed, we expect there to be plenty of ups and downs (excuse the pun), but ultimately the goal is to have a great time.

Here’s how our group of intrepid volunteers have been described: “The team ranges from the overly confident to some who are enquiring about being airlifted off if their legs won’t take them any further. Most are probably just looking forward to the pub lunch at the end.”

Whatever their motivation, our team will do their utmost to raise funds for what is a fantastic charity.

Pendleside Hospice provides care and support to individuals and their families facing life-limiting illnesses. It is a charitable trust reliant on public donations of more than £3 million per year to continue its important work.

Strong relationships support happy clients for Fuel Card Services

Building strong relationships helps to ensure our customers are receiving the best level of support.

As such, it gives us great pleasure when a customer reaches out to highlight the positive experience they’ve had when working alongside us to meet their needs.

Always here to help

Clem Gilder, fleet administrator at Lister Wilder, has been in touch to highlight the positive relationship she’s been able to build with her account manager Helen Simpson.

“During the short period that we have used Fuel Card Services, I have found Helen to be helpful and quick to resolve any teething issues we may have had,” she stated.

“Going forward, a good client/supplier relationship is important to our company, as is making every endeavour to keep our costs as low as possible. We aim to maintain both of the aforementioned in what we hope will be a longstanding relationship.”

She added that despite only working with Fuel Card Services since the start of the year, it’s been a very positive experience so far.

Lister Wilder is active in the agricultural sector and operates a fleet of 160 vehicles, making use of both petrol and diesel fuels. The company has a monthly spend of approximately £50,000.

Ellie Baker, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, comments: “It’s great to see a positive relationship being forged between Helen and Clem. At Fuel Card Services, we pride ourselves on always supporting our clients, no matter their needs.”

Tom Cosway Charity

Tom Cosway running for The Brain Tumour Charity

We’re happy to report that the charitable efforts of our staff continue to be a source of great pride for us all.

Tom Cosway and his brother Jez will be taking part in the Windermere Marathon on May 19th. Both will be running to raise money for the The Brain Tumour Charity.

Running for a fantastic cause

Tom said: “We’re running for The Brain Tumour Charity as last month, one of our mum’s friends passed away due to a brain tumour. Also, one of the ladies who runs for my running club, her daughter has just been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour too, at just 18 years old.”

Both Tom and Jez are avid runners, but taking on a marathon is no mean feat! Covering 26.2 miles on foot is a stunning achievement, and we wish them both the best of luck.

Tom added: “However hard or difficult the training and race is, nothing compares to the people who are suffering with brain tumours, please help us raise some money and awareness.”

The pair’s initial aim was to raise £1,000 for the charity and this is a target they’ve already been able to achieve. However, the more that can be raised for such a good cause the better.

You can support Tom at his Just Giving fundraising page. All contributions would be warmly appreciated.
