Skoda has achieved an impressive milestone, with the manufacturer producing its 15 millionth vehicle since the brand's merger with Volkswagen Group in 1991.
Now one of the most high-profile marques in the world, Skoda has developed from a regional manufacturer to a massive global enterprise, with these latest figures proving that point.
Operating in more than 100 markets, the company achieved record sales of more than 1.1 million vehicles last year, and remains on course to exceed that number again in 2017.
Skoda chief executive officer Bernhard Maier commented: "Skoda has developed very dynamically as part of Volkswagen Group. With globally successful products and a motivated team, we continue along our path to growth."
He went on to praise the state-of-the-art facilities and expanded model range that have helped Skoda go from strength to strength in recent years, and are helping the company to continue to grow into the future.
Overall, the Skoda Fabia and Octavia have proven the most popular among motorists during the past 26 years, with more than four million of each of these model's having rolled off the manufacturer's production lines.
Molly Benton, brand manager at Fuel Card Services, adds: "Skoda is one of the biggest names in the UK automotive sector, so it's pleasing to hear such an impressive milestone has now been reached, and that the brand has positive plans to keep on improving in the years to come."
